Wondering what fruit and veg is ready when? You’ve come to the right place! The info below is based on my own experiences and observations- there will be some variation about when each type of fruit and veg is ready, depending on variety, time it was planted, nutrients in soil, amount of love and sunlight it receives etc.
SEPTEMBER
Fruit in Season
Abundance has been harvesting apples, pears, plums and damsons this month.
Vegetables in Season
This month we’ve been harvesting potatoes, kale, beans, courgettes, marrows and squash from the Abundance Manchester veg plot. Other veg in season this month includes sweetcorn, pumkins, jerusalem artichokes, swedes and cabbages.
JULY
Fruit in Season
At the moment in Manchester (July 8th), cherries, gooseberries, raspberries, blackcurrants, whitecurrants, redcurrants and strawberries are all ripening up nicely and are ready for picking.
Plums, pears and apples aren’t ready yet but can be seen growing well on trees around the city:
Vegetables in Season
Vegetables I’ve been harvesting recently (July 8th) include peas, broad beans, spinach, broccoli, globe artichokes, garlic, courgettes, winter onions and kale.
Some of the veg I’m waiting for includes onions planted in spring, tomatoes, runner beans, red cabbages, jerulsalem artichoke and squashes.
