Despite the miserable weather on Saturday, apple picking went ahead as usual. We started at a house in Whalley Range, where the children were very keen to get involved. They put their fishing net to good use to catch apples in. Next we revisited Southern Cemetery. Over the previous week the strong winds had blown most of the apples off the 15+ trees and thousands (literally!) covered the ground. We loaded up as many as we could before we froze. They will be turned into juice and apples crumbles and then given to The Destitution Project, which provides food parcels to destitute refugees, and The Mustard Tree, which provides hot meals to homeless people.
