Saturdays harvest went really well again, thanks to everyone involved. We collected about 15 boxes of fruit from houses in Levenshulme, Ladybarn, Didsbury and Stockport.
After the picking we used two bike trailers to deliver some of the fruit straight to Safestop, the homeless hostel for young people in Didsbury. During the week fruit was taken to Cornerstone in Moss Side and Wellspring in Stockport, which provide hot meals to homeless and isolated people. Fruit was also delivered to a Salvation Army Hostel which sleeps and feeds 180 mainly young people and Harpurhey Community Church, which has a community cafe providing food in one of the most deprived areas of Manchester. On Thursday fruit will also be delivered to The Destitution Project, which provides weekly food parcels to destitute refugees.
