Picking now over for 2011, sorry. If you have a surplus please try and get it to a local hostel, community centre or school. Abundance is now busy over the winter at Kenworthy Community Orchard if you’d like to get involved.
Do you have a fruit tree in your garden? If so, and you’d like us to come and pick the fruit, leaving you some and giving the rest to the needy, then please let us know! We can pick from trees in Chorlton, Didsbury, Rusholme, Whalley Range, Moss Side, Withington and Ladybarn.
Please send an email to abundancemanchester@yahoo.co.uk inluding the information below if you would like us to pick, and let your friends and family know we’re on the lookout for fruit trees in Manchester and give them our contact details too!
In your email, please include;
- The type of fruit tree (e.g. apple / pear, and cooking / eating)
- Your address
- Contact phone number
- Whether we would need to bring a ladder
- Roughly when the fruit is ready
You can also call us if it is urgent…

I am part of St. Marks Food & Allotment project in Woodhouse Park, Wythenshawe where we share an allotment & have done some food picking & sharing last year & this. We usually pick fruit & give it away fresh around harvesting time in Sept. combined with a harvest celebration meal made with local fruit – apple pie, blackberry & apple, rhubarb & custard etc!
We share out the food amongst families with young children and older people through August/September with Wythenshawe Community Initiative family group called Go Create.
Just thought you may like to know about similar things across the city. We have some pictures on the breadbreaker.blogspot.com site
I have 2 apple trees – one cooking, one eating. We’re moving out in the next 2 weeks and would really like someone to collect our fruit before then. We can’t reach!
Thanks,
Kathy

Lots of cherries going to waste along Barton Canal in Salford at the moment. Also know where lots ( and lots and lots ) of blackberries are going to be but it’s a bit harder to describe ( it’s not along a named road ) so if you are interested in the blackberries please get back to me. Hoon
My elderly neighbour would like someone to pick/share pears and apples, but she is a trafford resident (Flixton). Please email me and I will supply her number if someone can oblige. Kind regards CR
Hi!
What a great project. I’d been looking for something like this cos I have a crab-apple tree which usually produces lots of fruit (not so much this year), and I don’t use it at all. So I’d love it if someone came to pick the crab-apples to be valued and used by someone.
I also have an eating-apple tree, but I’m not offering those apples, I shall eat all of them!
