Abundance meets regularly to plan activities, discuss progress, and distribute tasks. Please sign up to our mailing list if you’d like to be kept in touch or get involved. Picking is now over for the season but orchard work is well underway – see the orchard page for more details and events and meetings.
If you’d like to help us do some fruit picking, veg growing, cooking, organising or delivering produce with bicycle trailers, we’d love to meet you! We are looking for new volunteers for all aspects of the project. You can get involved with one particular area or several if you like;
Fruit picking – We have fruit picking sessions every Saturday during the season (typically August to October). We usually meet at noon and to go 2/3 gardens to pick fruit, which we then distribute by bike trailer.
Distributing – If you are a keen cyclist and interested in whizzing round with a bike trailer to deliver our freshly picked fruit and veg, we need you!
Juicing / Cooking – We also do fruit juicing and make apple crumbles and chutneys, so keep an eye on our list if you are interested.
Orchard – We look after Kenworthy Comunity Orchard where there is always lots to do. See our Kenworthy page for more details.
Food growing – We grow fruit on the Abundance plot which is a raised bed in a car park in Didsbury. Although we don’t have regular community sessions anymore, we are keen for people to come down and help with maintenance and harvesting. The plot is at the end of the car park at Manchester Bridge Club, 30 Palatine Road, West Didsbury, M20 3JJ. Get in touch if you’d like to help.
Getting more involved – We are always looking for more people to help organise fruit pickings and other activities associated with the group, so please get in touch if you would like to help.
